In my last "What I'm Reading" I shared that I was reading Ann Packer's Swim Back to Me and I wish I could say I enjoyed it. It included two novellas bookending four short stories and I have to admit I only made it through the first novella and a few pages into the first short story. It just was to "deep" for my taste and was my first novel by Packer.
However, I just finished another Nicholas Sparks novel, Safe Haven. There is something about the way he writes that can easily draw you in and the next thing you know you are sitting in a bathtub of freezing cold water. Well, at least that is where I ended up. It was a little too predictable but sometimes there is some comfort in the predictable.
As for what is on my bedside table right now, I've got Our Lady of the Forest by David Guterson (author of Snow Falling on Cedars) and The Hunting Wind (the 3rd of the Alex McKnight mysteries) by Steve Hamilton. I try to always have a few options on hand. I simply have to have a book to read and I can't risk not liking a book and not having a back-up.

I've been reading the same book since May...The Help. Ironically, I've seen the movie 3 times since I started.
I may have to check out the Nicholas Sparks one! So glad to see you back on my blog reader...missed you!
