You get what you pay for. We have all heard this line before, and I don't know about you, but I have spent so much money trying to prove that saying wrong. Sounds pretty dumb doesn't it? I have purchased at least 4 different vacuum cleaners all of which I thought did a decent job but slowly stopped working well and/or simply broke down. My last vacuum cleaner literally caught fire. All of these were well-known brand names and were not very expensive. Cheap is just that, cheap. Add up how much it has cost me to replace each vacuum, and I have spent a small fortune trying to save money.

You all have seen the commercials for
Dyson vacuum cleaners. Known most for the Ball™ technology which makes a
Dyson much easier to steer than the standard wheeled vacuums. Dyson Ball™ vacuums ride on a ball, which pivots around itself so you can instantly change direction with just a turn of the wrist. I am here to tell you that this really is
so much easier to use. The maneuverability is amazing but it takes a little getting used to. Not because it is hard, but because you have been "trained" to use a vacuum a certain way. Once I finally let the ball do the work for me, I will never be able to use another brand of vacuums again.

The model that I reviewed is the
Dyson DC25 Blueprint Limited Edition. It is a beautiful machine and is as good a vacuum as it looks. This is not your grandma's vacuum. Designed as an homage to the lengths engineers go to in making their inventions a reality. I immediately opened the box upon arrival, put it together and started vacuuming within 15 minutes. I started with the most used room in the house, the living room. I looked at the Clear Bin, the bagless area where all the dirt goes, and was shocked! Was I really fooling myself into thinking my old vacuum was sucking up all the dirt? Dyson uses Root Cyclone™ technology, instead of relying on bags and filters to trap the dust, a Dyson vacuum uses
patented cyclone technology to spin the dirt out of the air. That's one of the reasons why it
doesn't lose suction, picks up more dirt from your home and
expels only clean air. When I say this vacuum sucks - I mean it in the best way possible. The bin was full and I honestly thought my floors were fairly clean.
One of my biggest complaints with other vacuums is that as soon as you switch to using the hose, be it to vacuum edges, baseboards, inside the couches, etc., the suction level would decrease. As the vacuum aged it only got worse and I had accepted this and thought of buying a unit that was specifically made to get into smaller spaces. With the Blueprint, that is completely unnecessary. The Dyson loses absolutely no suction when I switch to the hose, has an extender to reach high places that is built in (meaning you don't have to store extra pieces) and I can leave the vacuum on first floor and vacuum the stairs all the way to the second floor, the hose is that long.
I get so excited when it is time to empty the Clear Bin. I am amazed to see all the dirt that it picked up. Detaching the bin from the machine is just a button click, and when you empty it, all you do is push a lever and the bottom falls out and the dirt goes directly into the trash. My last bagless vacuum required you to pull the filter out of the bin, dump the dirt into the trash and then knock the filter against the trash can to get all the gunk off. Dirt and gunk flew everywhere. It was disgusting and you certainly had to do this outside.
This vacuum is designed so well that the instruction manual is only a few pages long and consists of mostly diagrams. There are little notches in the parts that detach from each other that make it practically impossible for you to put things together incorrectly. I feel so accomplished when I am done vacuuming because I know that it is truly working. I know my children are playing on clean carpet and floors and that the air they are breathing has not been compromised by a cheap vacuum that is blowing out dirty air. Dyson also offers a 5 year warranty which assures me I won't be having to replace my vacuum any time soon. Finally!
You can purchase Dyson machines on their
online store or at major retailers such as Target, Lowes, Kmart, Home Depot, Best Buy and Bed Bath and Beyond.
