"Staycation" at Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes {Giveaway}

ENDED - CONGRATULATIONS
Lori A. Jennai MOMMY MOMO Cherry Blossoms Tifferz
I am trying so hard to lose weight and going to an all-you-can-eat restaurant really isn't the best thing to do, right? But for you, my loyal readers, I will do anything. Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes (same restaurant, different names depending on your area) understands that a lot of you are not traveling as much this summer and is offering a "staycation" of sorts at their restaurants. They are offering a "culinary trip for your taste buds."

While you will have already missed fare from Italy and Mexico, Greece and Asian menus are still upcoming and if they are anything like the Mexican tastes I experienced - you are in for a treat!

It was incredibly busy at the Souplantation we visited this past Sunday afternoon. Which really wasn't a horrible thing since we got to travel slowly through the salad bar portion. If you have never been to a Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes, you start by going through a cafeteria style salad bar where you get to load up on all different types of salad. While you will see there is plenty on my plate (the one on the left), I actually made room for more salads as we went through the line by eating my Azteca Taco Salad while I made my way to the cashier. It was so good! My best friends much healthier salad plate is on the right. She was good and actually waited until we were seated to eat. Goody two-shoes.

I probably should have taken a picture of the hot food stations and dessert station but I was busy stuffing my face with as much as I could. The absolute best thing was the corn cheese chowder. Chunks of potato, bacon and corn in a cheese soup! I am craving it right now! There are also pastas and plenty of other soup options. I love my carbs and Souplantation has the best breads and muffins. Not to mention baked potatoes and brownie cakes. Yes that is 3 containers of butter you see on my plate. You see, there isn't just one type of butter. There is whipped butter, honey butter and whipped margarine. I had to try them all. I mean, for you all, of course.

I tried to take pictures as I ate my way through Mexico, but as you can see, I got a little carried away and kinda forgot I was "working." Like a buffet restaurant, you do get your own food but you don't need to wait for the waitress to bring you clean plates which is nice. Not to say that the service is lacking in any way. They cleared our demolished plates quickly and we needed a high chair and when we were taken to our table there was a high chair already there! Remember, they were so busy, but their service did not suffer.

Are you hungry yet? I sincerely recommend taking the time to visit a Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes near you. I am looking forward to checking out their Greek menu & I plan on taking my husband this time, he deserves a "staycation" too! I might bring the kids as well because there are special placemats for kids that correspond to each region and include coupons for discounts to local attractions and suggestions for "staycations" right in your backyard!

You can also participate in the "Where in the World Is Sweetie?" contest for a chance to win great prizes like Visa gift cards and additional dining passes just by following @souplantation on Twitter and becoming a fan on Facebook.

We have a Sweet Tomatoes about 15-20 minutes from us! Would love to try them. I'm most excited to try the Greek menu. My great-grandfather came here from Greece and I'm ashamed to say I've never really tried Greek food.

We are lucky enough to have a Sweet Tomatoes location about five miles away. As for choosing between Greek and Asian - that's a tough call since I genuinely love both cusines (as well Mexican and Italian!)

I guess I would choose Greek - but only because we have so many wonderful Asian restaurants around here and so few Greek Restaurants.

But hey, they're prices are reasonable enough - why not do both?
