EarCheck - Review & Giveaway

It seemed to me that I was always going to the doctor for an ear infection check. My sons appear to be prone to them, as I was as a child. In fact, my oldest son used to get them so often that he had begun to get used to the pain. He wouldn't tell me until the infection was so bad that I was embarrassed to take him to the doctor. Now I live over a half-an-hour up a mountain from our pediatrician and we can not just run to the doctors for a quick check-up.

Luckily I found EarCheck by Innovia Medical which is recommended by pediatricians. But if you see signs that your child may have an ear infection, EarCheck can help put your mind at ease since the signs of an ear infection could mean many other things as well.

Innovia Medical sent me an EarCheck to review and I was a little intimidated at first. I worried that I would not be able to figure out how to use it however, it was so simple! All you need to do is put the batteries in, do a quick calibration that is takes seconds to perform and you are ready to go. Pull the ear up and back, gently insert the EarCheck tip into the ear, push the scan button and in a few seconds the result is displayed on the screen.

I tried it on myself first and the sound that it makes, two chirps, was a little louder than I had expected but wasn't too loud. I also tried it on my children and husband and they didn't seem to mind the sound at all. These "chirping" soundwaves detect the presence of middle ear fluid. Good news, none of us appear to have an ear infection!
